Sigma Consulting Group Brings Expertise to Waggoner Engineering

November 10, 2022 — Sigma Consulting Group, Inc., a privately-owned civil engineering and surveying company headquartered in Baton Rouge, announced that it has agreed to merge with Waggoner Engineering, Inc., a full-service economic development, planning, program management, and engineering firm. The business combination went into effect on November 4, 2022. Terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1987, Sigma has a 35-year history of delivering consulting solutions throughout the Gulf Coast. Named one of the best places to work in Baton Rouge annually since 2014, Sigma’s full-service engineering and surveying expertise spans the transportation, water resources, coastal, and program management markets.

“They offer unique expertise that can supplement and strengthen our current suite of services,” said Emad Al-Turk, President of Waggoner. “We are excited to add these services to the Waggoner profile. This partnership will allow us to improve the quality of life for the communities we serve while amplifying our ability to deliver a full service and seamless offering to new and existing clients.”

Sigma’s leadership will integrate into Waggoner’s, with Miles Williams serving as Louisiana Manager, Gregory Sepeda serving as Executive Vice President, and the rest of the management team continuing in their current positions.

“We are excited to take our expertise, experience, culture, and dedication to the communities we serve to Waggoner,” said Miles Williams, previous President at Sigma. “Their goals, regional footprint, and disciplines align with ours, and we know this next chapter with Waggoner will be of great benefit to all Sigma stakeholders.”

The deal marks the first completed acquisition by Waggoner since forming a strategic partnership with the Trilon Group to accelerate the firm’s growth and lead the national growth strategy in water, municipal services, and disaster recovery while continuing to build an array of services across our existing regional footprint. Trilon, backed by Alpine Investors, partners with like-minded architecture and engineering firms across the nation and aims to accelerate their growth through talent, technology, and targeted M&A investment.

With the addition of Sigma, Waggoner’s diverse team expands to more than 200 employees with an additional office in Pensacola, Florida.

“We could not be more excited,” said Al-Turk. “Like Waggoner, Sigma has built a phenomenal company of individuals who share a passion for serving their communities and clients.”
